Holgate

Holgate subsiduary Bridge Parapets Limited has recently been contracted to provide maintenance and repair services for the term maintenance contract operated by Enterprise Mouchel. Area 3 covers Hampshire, Surrey, Beckshire, Oxfordshire, Dorset, Wiltshire and parts of Buckinghamshire. The majority of bridge structures in the region have previously been supplied by Bridge Parapets (BPL) and this new contract will allow for ease of maintenance and the increased use of the BPL product range in the region.

The M74 Completion project which completes the missing link in the strategic motorway network through Glasgow opened on the 28th of June. The project was undertaken by M74 Interlink JV, a joint venture between Morrison Construction, Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering, Morgan Sindall and Sir Robert McAlpine.

Holgate were engaged to re-design, supply and install all the noise barrier systems on the scheme. The majority of the barriers used by Holgate are Aluminium Absorbent barrier together with Plexiglas Acrylic barriers for the structures. In total over 11,000 sq/m of barriers were installed on the scheme where quality and performance were paramount. The Holgate Aluminium systems used meet the most stringent acoustic requirements together with durability up to 40 years plus, guaranteed acoustic integrity, no maintenance requirements and an in built anti graffiti paint systems allowing for ease of cleaning if required. The use of Aluminium barriers on the UK road network has been rare over the years but this project represents a departure from the standard low performance timber system normally specified. One would expect that such high performance barriers would come with a high price tag. The reality is that Aluminium barriers can be achieved for the same cost as equivalent timber systems and are less expensive than concrete or steel equivalents. The life costs for aluminium make them the most cost effective systems available on the market and for this reason they are the most popular mitigation solution throughout Europe.

Holgate now manafacture and install a full range of N2 BPL parapet systems to EN1317 and also now provide a full range of P4 Pedetrain systems in aluminium. The addition of these new systems compliments our existing High Containment parapets and Vetex crash barrier range.

Holgate - Dublin to Galway N6 Finally Complete

The final stretch of motorway finally opened in time for the Christmas break for motorists travelling between Dublin and Galway.

Holgate - M50 Concrete Noise Barrier Awarded

Holgate has commenced the installation of the second concrete noise barrier system for the Irish network. The work commenced on the M1 end of the M50 and consists of a kilometer of the ‘Durisol’ concrete noise wall supplied from Durisol Holland.

The barrier is made up of a reinforced concrete core, with a composite of timber and bonding concrete at the front face which acts as an absorbent layer. Holgate is currently installing 30,000 sq/m of timber noise barrier on the M50 which is due for completion early next year.

Holgate are nearing completion of the Nenagh to Limerick project which is due for completion in December.

Holgate is currently putting the finishing touches to the safety barrier on the N25 Waterford by-pass ahead of its upcoming opening.
